description.abstract	北緯５度付近のマレーシア、サラワク州、ミリ市郊外のランビル国立公園の熱帯雨林には、地球上の生物進化１億年の歴史が残っており、様々な生物同士の共生の様子が見られる。ちなみに熱帯以外の地域は氷河期を経験しており生物たちはほとんど絶滅してしまっている。すなわち熱帯雨林の生物同士の共生の様子を見れば、多様な生物たちがどのようにすれば共存共栄を計れるか。ひいては地球上の人類を含めた生物たちの共存のために何が重要かの大きなヒントが隠されている可能性がある。そこで本稿では、様々な生物たちの共生はお互いのコミュニケーションの結果として生まれてくるが、コミュニケーションの媒体はほとんどケミカル（情報化学物質）であるため、ＧＣ／ＭＳを使用して共生の原因を解明できる可能性について検討する。
